Carrick Swan GAA Notes
Carrick Swan played their vital fourth round south championship fixture against Ballybacon on Sunday afternoon last in Monroe. This game was of great importance in our efforts to get back on track for semi-final place and our team made no mistake, leading from the start, and building up a healthy half time lead of 1-11 to 0-02, having played with a strong wind advantage. We remained on top throughout second half to run out comfortable winners 3-16 to 1-10. With further improvement we can look forward with confidence to our final group game against Ballingarry where a win will secure semi-final place.
Carrick Swan senior footballers have bowed out of this year’s south championship after last week’s results. It was disappointing that a number of panel members did not show the commitment and appetite necessary during the championship and a far more disciplined approach will be necessary in advance of county championship fixture against Aherlow.
Our under 14 footballers were defeated by Clonmel Commercials on Monday evening of last week in south (A) semi-final after a disappointing display. We now concentrate on preparation for hurling championship and we expect all panel members to be in attendance at training sessions on Friday evenings and Sunday mornings over the coming weeks.
Notices / entry forms for our annual summer camp have been distributed this week and we request that completed forms be returned before Friday next 10th June. The summer camp will take place on the week-end of 01stJuly and we encourage all under-age players from 5 to 13 years of age to take part. Many of our young players took part in festival parade on Saturday last and we thank those who helped out on the day. All in attendance enjoyed the activities and we compliment the festival organising committee on their hard work in again making this year’s event most enjoyable for locals and visitors alike.
Juvenile disco will take place on Friday of next week, 17thJune, from 8.00 – 10.30 p.m. and we invite all our regulars and their friends to join us for an enjoyable night’s entertainment in strictly supervised surroundings. We remind those supervising to be in attendance before 7.45 p.m. and it is most important that all those who have supervised to date be in juvenile centre at that time.
The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 6, 17, 24 & 27. We had no jackpot winner and three match three winners each win €70 – Richard O’Hanlon, Gleann an Locha, Paul Devereux, St.Nicholas Park and Tom O’Mahoney, Clonmel. We also had five €20 lucky dip prizes in appreciation of the terrific support which the lotto is receiving, for which we are most grateful. This week’s jackpot is €6,500 and we invite those who have not yet joined up to do so now by contacting any committee member.
Carrick Swan club congratulates Carrick Utd. A.F.C. on their recent league and Munster senior cup successes.
We remind those who require tickets for the Tipperary / Clare Munster championship semi-final taking place on Sunday week, 19thJune, that names must be submitted to secretary or any committee member by Friday of this week. A limited number of family tickets will be available.
All club officers and team mentors are reminded that items for inclusion in club notes must reach club P.R.O. by Sunday of each week for inclusion in following week’s press. Our e-mail address for those who might like to send contributions, photographs or any items of interest is email@example.com. You can visit our website at www.carrickswan.gaa.ie
