Carrick Swan GAA Notes

Carrick Swan senior hurlers played Borrisoleigh in county championship on Monday evening in Thurles - report next week.

Carrick Swan under 10 hurlers scheduled south hurling blitz was postponed at short notice over the weekend. This team will play in Thomastown blitz on Sunday next 25th leaving clubrooms at 10.00 a.m. Our under 8 hurlers will also play blitz on Saturday next 24th, with Ballyneale / Grangemockler hosting the event.  Leaving clubrooms at 10.15 a.m. Our under 16 (A) south hurling championship semi-final has been provisionally fixed for Sunday next with our opponents to be decided by play-off game during the week.

 

A number of our underage teams will soon commence indoor training with mini-leagues being organised for all age groups. We look forward to their commencement and encourage parents and past players to become actively involved in the coming months and help share an increasing workload.

 

All underage players are reminded that Youth Mass will take place in St.Nicholas Church on Wednesday evening of this week and we ask players to be in attendance at 7.15 p.m. wearing club jersey / colours. All youth groups in the town are invited and encouraged to attend this event where  Micheal O’Muircheartaigh, ex sports commentator, will address the congregation during the Mass.

 

The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 3, 6, 24 & 26. We had no jackpot winner and six match 3 winners who each win €40 – Tom & Jim Saunders c/o The Tannery, Kieran Reade Collins Park, Ann Torpey Mountain View, Denise O’Halloran Seskin Court, Teddy O’Connell Mill Street and Lillian Hahessy Tanners Gate . We thank you for your continued support and welcome new entries at any time. Weekly entry fee is €2 which can be paid to any committee member or any of our lotto promoters.

 

Juvenile disco for 8 – 13 year olds will take place on Friday evening of this week from 8.00 – 10.30 p.m. in juvenile centre. All are welcome to attend this strictly supervised event. Admission €5.

 

Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to the Ryan family, Clonmel and Carrick, on the death of Nellie Ryan Old Bridge, Clonmel recently. We also extend our sympathy to former player Tim Howard, Carrick-Beg and U.S.A, on the untimely death of his wife recently.
