Carrick Swan GAA Notes – Monday 21st November 2011.
Carrick Swan club congratulates club vice president Johnny Flynn who received most deserved Sean Ghael award in Thurles on Sunday last. Johnny has given a lifetime of service to Carrick Swan club and the GAA in numerous roles – player, selector, club officer, county and south board representative and many other roles. His award was most deserved and we sincerely congratulate Johnny, his family and all the other recipients of awards.
Carrick Swan’s under-21 hurling south (B) final was played in Kilsheelan on Sunday afternoon last where we lined out against St.Pats. The original fixture scheduled for Saturday was postponed due to weather conditions and Sunday’s game was again played in difficult conditions. Despite this both teams played some terrific hurling with St.Pats on top in the first half holding a four point lead going in at half time. A terrific second half display from our team saw them edge ahead with some early scores and continue their dominance as the half progressed to run out clear winners 3-13 t0 0-14 at the finish. We congratulate the team and their mentors on a great win for the club and wish them the best of luck in county semi-final against Moyne Templetuohy. This game will probably take place on Saturday next.
The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 4, 11, 21 and 26. We had no jackpot winner – and 11 match 3 winners who each win €20. Next week’s jackpot is €3,750 and we sincerely thank all those who continue to play our weekly lotto. Entry is €2 and this can be paid to any of our promoters or any committee member.
The annual general meeting of Carrick Swan Hurling Football & Camogie Club takes place on Friday evening next at 8.00 p.m. in the old club rooms. Nomination / proposal forms are available from any committee member or they can be downloaded from our web site. We look forward to your attendance and we hope all members and players are there on the night to look back on the year’s activities and more importantly to put our plans in place for next year. Remember your A.G.M. is the only forum where club policies, procedures and proposals can be formally debated and democratically agreed upon.
