Carrick Swan GAA Notes

Members are reminded that orders for tickets for All-Ireland hurling final must with ticket co-ordinator or committee member before Friday of this week. If demand for tickets exceeds supply a draw will take place to distribute tickets.

Many of our youngest players were in action on The Green on Saturday morning last in under 6, under 8 and under 10 games against St.Marys. There was some great talent on show from both clubs in all age groups and all the players and those in attendance enjoyed the activities. We thank the St.Marys club for travelling to play and all those who helped out on the morning especially those involved with these groups for the first time. Thanks also to all the parents. Our under 14 camogie team also played friendly match during the week lining out against Gortnahoe on The Green on Friday evening in a very enjoyable game. Carrick Swan under 12, under 14 and under 16 hurlers are all awaiting confirmation of their fixture dates for final stages of their competitions. The under 12 hurlers have qualified to play Ballingarry in south go-games final with both teams going on to represent south division in Semple Stadium next month for final stages of county competition. Their final is provisionally fixed for Sunday 11thSeptember. Our under 14’s will play the winners of Moyle Rovers and St.Marys in south final in the first week in September while our under 16 hurlers have qualified for semi-final of their championship. All these teams are preparing well with challenge games and training and we encourage all panel members, and their parents, to ensure that they are in attendance for all organised games and training sessions.

The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 1, 20, 27 & 28. We had no jackpot winner and one match 3 winner James Power, 27 Mountain View who wins €200. We thank you for your continued support and welcome new entries at any time. Weekly entry fee is €2 which can be paid to any committee member or any of our lotto promoters.

Carrick Swan club thanks all those who took part in, and those who sponsored participants, in our sponsored walk to Faugheen on Sunday last.

Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to the family of the late Peggy Meagher, O’Mahony Avenue and the family and friends of the late Paddy Power, Collins Park and Portlaw who both died during the week.

At time of writing Carrick Swan senior hurlers are still awaiting confirmation of south and county championship fixtures with the first fixture likely to be played the week after All-Ireland senior hurling final.
