Carrick Swan GAA Notes

The new Carrick Swan website is now up and running (www.carrickswan.gaa.ie). You will find all the latest information on all Swan club activities on the site. In the photo and video gallery you can catch up on the latest matches and recent events while the site also provides match results, fixtures and interesting articles. Registration night for all intending members will take place in clubrooms on Tuesday 08th February
from 7.00 - 8.00 p.m. Any intending member may call and pay their annual membership subscription
on the night.

Under 21 football panel members are reminded that full turnout is expected for training for their championship which commences next week. Players are also reminded that membership subscriptions must be paid before playing to avail of insurance cover.

The weekly juvenile lotto reached its tenth week on Thursday last and jackpot prize of €3,000 was won for the second time. The numbers drawn were 3, 9, 12 and 26 and the lucky winner was Claire Wheeler, Killonerry Close. Nine match 3 winners received €20 each. We sincerely thank all those who have helped make this new initiative so successful and to date prizes totalling €8,415 have been distributed. Those playing, and the general public, appreciate our generous prize fund and we in turn appreciate your support. We welcome those who have not joined to date to play our weekly game. Entry is €2 and this week’s jackpot is €2,000.

The juvenile disco held on Friday night last was very well attended and all the children had a most enjoyable night. We thank those who helped out on the night. Next disco is on Friday 18thFebruary where we hope to see all our regulars and their friends in attendance where a good night is assured in strictly supervised surroundings.

We remind all members, supporters and especially players that membership subscription must be paid immediately. The fee of €20 for adults, €10 for minors and €5 for juveniles can be paid to any committee member.

Some juvenile indoor training programmes have been confirmed; under 8 boys commencing Tuesday 08th February 7.30 – 8.30 p.m., under 6 boys and girls Wednesday 09thFebruary 6.00 – 7.00 p.m., under 12 / 14 camogie Monday 14thFebruary 6.30 – 7.30 p.m. and under 10 camogie Tuesday 15thFebruary 6.00 – 7.00 p.m.. All players will receive notification and training programmes for all other under-age teams will be confirmed soon.

Both our adult and juvenile committees have welcomed new members for the new year and we sincerely thank them for coming on board. We do however require more help with our ever expanding group of juvenile players and we hope more ex-players, parents and supporters will join us in our endeavours to continue provide these young boys and girls with an enjoyable pass-time spent in safe surroundings. A little time each week will help a lot so contact any committee member now to get involved.

Carrick Swan club extends its sympathy to the family of the late Tommy Quinlan, Pearse Square who
died this week after being unwell for a number of weeks. The Quinlan family, being close neighbours
of our club, have long been associated with us and we sympathise with them on their sad loss.
