Carrick Swan GAA Notes
Monday 31st October 2011.
Carrick Swan under 16 hurlers played county (A) semi-final on Monday morning last in Clonmel where they lined out against west champions Arravale Rovers. Despite conceding the first two scores we were never in any danger in this game, leading comfortably at half time, and running out very convincing winners at the finish. We will play Durlas Og in county final on Saturday next with time and venue to be confirmed. We wish the team and their mentors the best of luck in their efforts to secure county title.
Carrick Swan under 21 hurlers were also in action over the weekend playing Ballybacon Grange in south (B) semi-final on Saturday in Clonmel. We trailed for much of this game but finished strongly to record a convincing win 1-16 to 2-08. Our opponents in final have yet to be decided with the other semi-final still to be played.
The numbers drawn in last week’s juvenile lotto were 6, 12, 17 & 23. We had no jackpot winner – and eight match 3 winners who each win €30. We also had 5 X €20 lucky dip prizes as we continue to give out additional prizes on a regular basis in appreciation of your support. Next week’s jackpot is €3,000 and we sincerely thank all those who continue to play our weekly lotto. Entry is €2 and this can be paid to any of our promoters or any committee member.
Carrick Swan’s annual juvenile flag days take place next week, on Friday 11th and Saturday 12thNovember. We request players and members to help out at collection points and would appreciate if those who are available on either day could give their names to any committee member. This is an important fundraising event for the club and we very much appreciate the support we get.
The fancy dress disco held on Friday night last was very well attended and all the boys and girls had an enjoyable night. Prizes were awarded for the best dressed and we thank all those who helped with supervision on the night. Mary & Bernie were adjudged best dressed adults.
We remind parents and supporters that Terry is currently taking orders for training and leisure wear in club colours. These items make ideal Christmas gifts and are very competitively priced but orders must be placed now to ensure delivery before Christmas. We also remind parents that booking forms for our annual juvenile Christmas party in Cork should have been returned by now.
The annual general meeting of Carrick Swan Hurling Football & Camogie Club will take place on Friday 25thNovember at 8.00 p.m. Official notification will be sent to all members and we look forward to your attendance.
